Aliwal Shoal is a popular diving site known for its abundance of Grey nurse sharks also known locally as 'raggies' or ragged tooth sharks. There are two wrecks used as prime sites by divers in the area. The wrecks are home to some stunning wildlife. Most shark divers visit Aliwal Shoal in August and November as it is the sharks' mating season.
Aliwal Shoal is located 23km away from the hotel in Umkomaas. The area has numerous diving centres that offer scuba dive charter operation and also sell diving equipment. The centres also offer diving training.
